| Deus Ex 2: Invisible War DEMO! - File Description |
 |
Description:
Finally the long-awaited demo arrives,and it's a beauty !
The demo shows off some of the impressive features such as the lighting and physics engine.
I was stunned when i saw a barrel with a fire in it actually mold it's shadows around all objects in the room, including a NPC which passed by.
But it's not only the graphics that make a game,no sir, it's also the gameplay.
At first you'll have to adjust to the rather large hud,but with some tweaking or patience, you'll soon get the hang of the game.
A fine game this is, a perfect successor to the first Deus Ex game.
This is what Eidos had to say about the demo.
Quote: Only one event has been more anticipated than the December 3rd release of Deus Ex: Invisible War, and that is the release of the pre-release playable demo for Deus Ex: Invisible War. The demo gives an incredible glimpse into the unique player choice gameplay. Alex D needs transport in a jet held by Sophia Sak, mercenary. There are many ways to resolve the challenges in getting your ride, it's up to you how to choose to make it happen. You've got a few biomods and a few weapons at your disposal, but are they necessary. Will you use wits or brawn? And do you have enough of either to make it happen?
What are you still doing here reading ???
Download this baby now !!

This will not work with anything lower than a geforce 3 or a Radeon 8500, higher is recommended.
A geforce MX card will NOT work

First of all, the screenshots we've seend are absolute BS, this game has some of the worst graphics I have ever seen, even the original Deus Ex had higher poly models. The game relies heavily on bump mapping which sucks. Everything is extremely dark which doesnt need to be there, just because you have a new lighting system. The interface is too in your face and huge. And every 5 seconds a tutorial thign popped up on the screen.
The area you are in is extremely small, maybe about 1 square mile, and the "other side of town" is a short walk to the top of an apartment building.
The game is alos unplayable because it locks up for 4 seconds and then moves normally, and then locks up again, and you get the picture.
The game is alos just plain not fun at all. It takes about 20 shots to take down an unarmored civilian woman. You can't see where you are going. You can pick up weapons but they disappear. You have no control over your inventory. Textures are extremely terrible, and models look like they were imported from some game from 1997.
In short, all the news and shots we got form Eidos are pure bull.
Save yourself the time and effort.......dont download it. |
FluffyFluffyCow Joined: February 26th, 2003 Posts: 332 | I loved Deus Ex, but they killed it with Deuse Ex 2, this is an absolutely terrible demonstration, they lessened the grpahics, the sounds, the gameplay, and even the interface.
Everything I liked form Deus Ex is gone. You are no longer free-raoming and you must travel down an extremely linear path that has 2 ways to complete each mission. |

Red Carnage Joined: June 9th, 2002 Posts: 334 | A very short demo, but then again,i believe the full game will be worth it's $$.
And you can change a lot of settings in the demo (just mess about in the .ini file)
All in all, a nice little game, but i don't feel that DX feeling in it.
Then again, the power of DX was and is the story.
And in a ONE-level demo, there is not much story going round...is there ?
To FluffyFluffyCow (lol...like the nick ) :
The demo is not the best thing since sliced bread, but it's worth the download.
After that,it's totally your OWN decision wether to keep it,delete it or drool till DX:IW hits the shelves

OrioTecc Joined: January 18th, 2003 Posts: 20 | ur speaking bull*****. nearly all of ur socalled complaints can b easily fixed in the game if ud just care to do so.
turn up the gamma, turn off the messages, and the stuff u pick up is in ur inventory, just like in DX1
and as far as the textures etc., this was done cos of the size of the file. the full game will look way better.
also the HUD is ok enough once u learn how to use it, and get the feel for things.
plus i dont know wtf ur talking about that the game is locking up. must b crappy hardware, and thats not Ion Storms fault, but ur lameness.
so shut that bull-spewing piehole unless ue got some REAL complaints. |
FluffyFluffyCow Joined: February 26th, 2003 Posts: 332 | lol
Did you read my second post? My real complaint is that the demo overall is not fun at all, and the graphics SUCK. And I do have good hardware, its not just me experiencing lockups, thousands of others have already posted complaints in other places.
The game is not fun at all, and I think the developers have to much hubris because of the success of their last game.
This was just plain not fun, it doesnt have any Deus Ex feel to it, the character walks pretty slow, and the game has a hard time responding to key commands.
Oh and did I mention that the key bindings come undone when you move to each area?
BTW, I did do stuff in the menus and I nearly did fix everything I was complaining about, but what was left over was an unfun demo.
And don't give it credit because "its just a demo."
A demo is somethng that you want to share with the gaming community, that is supposed to WOW you and make you say "Hey I want this game." But no this demo is not like that, so the entire game is likely to be like this.
And DO NOT give this game credit just because DX1 was cool, this is nothing like DX1 and it is dumbed down for consoles. |
FluffyFluffyCow Joined: February 26th, 2003 Posts: 332 | Also, I will give the game credit for nice lighting, but thats about it.

will have to try to download the demo again |

Graphics Card: 32 MB, Geforce 3 or better
--->Geforce-4-MX-cards NOT possible<---
Operating Systems: Windows 98SE/2000/XP
MX does not have pixel/vertex shaders, whioch the game needs to run.
Sorry guys,it's upgrading time...... |

another thing easily undone, by unchecking the read only box in the user.ini file in my documents.
then if u get the feel of how things work, its pretty decent.
and again, u say graphix suck, and again i say things will look better in the full version. sure adding the xbox graphix in the demo might not have been wise of them, but they did it cos of size issues.
i will give u one thing tho, u dont really get alot of the dues ex feel in terms of story in the demo, but i think that was intentional, as they dont want to spoil it.
oh, and i might have flipped out a bit too much in that other post. : |
OrioTecc Joined: January 18th, 2003 Posts: 20 | try to turn off the bloom thingy in the graphix menu. everything looks way better with it turned off. |

Red Carnage Joined: June 9th, 2002 Posts: 334 | Nopez...no joke about the MX cards...sorry y'all
The MX series does not pixel/vertex shading and this is a technology which is used a LOT in DX:IW.
Same goes for any ATI card dating before the 8500 series.
Read the readme, that informs you on what u need to play the game.
Again,sorry...we just host the file, but Ion Storm made the game...blame them |

people complained about Halo PC having high specs requirements. this is bloody ridiculous!!!
i got that damn exception error as well and came here lookin for a fix but the ineptness of Ion Storms has shocked me.
have they never heard of Scalable before???? tw*ts
i have reasonably high spcec hardware:
2.4GHz P4
256Mb DDR SDRAM
80GB HD 7200RPM
64Mb GeForce 4 MX440 which aint crap but not brilliant either! Halo has better graphics and requires less!!!
Half Life 2 is gonna wipe this thing off the face of the Earth! |
Red Carnage Joined: June 9th, 2002 Posts: 334 | Hmm...i wonder..
with such good specs for a comp...why the HELL did you get a MX card ???
Think you did a little too little research in vidcards.
The GF4MX series is nothing more than a sooped up GF2...
Future games will need more than that card can offer.
No flame intended |
Satesh Joined: February 16th, 2003 Posts: 108 | but i got it about a year and a half ago and dint reallly pay much attention to the gfx card. shud've though, ill be gettin a new one soon (i hope) well i better be anyway. |

So if you want to upgrade that, lemme know and i'll try to help you (and otehrs) get a good comp that'll run nearly anything.
Please include your budget and where you live, prices vary much depending on which country you live in.

HoaXz Joined: December 16th, 2008 Posts: 2 | Ive read about the UNSUPPORTED MX card so ,..
But From what ive seen graphix wise,..theyre NOT GOOD @ all !! why spend so much work in crappy grafix?? a boast about it,...even the textures are very very badly done,.. altought u can get a texture-pack from John-P why not get a pack to fix the MX card problem? The game is not that good quality grafix wise.
I lvoe the story line though, very nice. Just dont Make it available for Crapbox360 and other gameconsoles they are the reason that WE PC users have to do with LESS quality and options to change things to your likings imo.
Anyway back to quake3arena its fast its furious its deadly and no crad problems
Game On! |
