A mod for Deus Ex

--1.0: INSTALLATION--
There is currently only one way to install Counterfeit: The manual way. It does not yet support any mod loaders, unless you feel like doing so yourself, but as for now, it only comes in the manually installed form. So bare with us a moment; Installing this is a bit awkward, but really simple if you just follow these directions carefully.
Remember that THIS MOD REQUIRES THE LATEST PATCH. Without it, you WILL NOT be able to play.
1) Before you unzip ANYTHING in the Counterfeit zip, you need to make one backup. That's right, you're going to have to do a little file swapping. Whine all you want, but it won't change a thing. Go into your DeusEx/Textures directory and backup "InfoPortraits.utx". If you do that, you can then unzip the InfoPortraits.utx used with Counterfeit, and swap back to the original whenever you want to play normal DX again. Not too hard.
2) Now unzip everything. Here's a list of what types of files go where:
.DX files go into DeusEx/maps
.umx files go into DeusEx/music
.utx files go into DeusEx/textures
.u and .uc files go into DeusEx/system
3) This is the "tricky" part (not really). You're going to have to open up your DeusEx.ini and User.ini files. Those are both found in DeusEx/system.
Open DeusEx.ini. Look for the line that says this:
DefaultGame=DeusEx.DeusExGameInfo
Note that that line may say something different if you have another mod installed or something similar. At any rate, change that line to this:
DefaultGame=CF.Loader
Now save that and close it. Open up User.ini and look for this line:
Class=DeusEx.JCDentonMale
Change it to this:
Class=CF.DB
And there you go. Basically that impliments the new player model. If you didn't do that, you'd be walking around as JC Denton, but everyone would be calling you Dominic Bishop.
This is another thing you'll have to change back to normal when you want to play normal DX again. Just remember that the original line for DeusEx.ini is:
DefaultGame=DeusEx.DeusExGameInfo
And the original line for User.ini is:
Class=DeusEx.JCDentonMale
And then you'll be back to JC.
4) You're set. Rip open Deus Ex. Make sure that you have a key bound to the "say" function (If not, you can set it by opening your User.ini and looking for the line, "t=". Change it to "t=say", without quotes, of course, and then you can press t in-game to get the say command line.) Press your "say" key, erase the "say" text in the command line that pops up, and type:
open cf_00_intro
And that will start the mod from the beginning intro movie.
Enjoy!

--3.0: KNOWN ISSUES--
We're currently aware of several bugs in the Counterfeit demo. Due to time constraints and other issues, we were not able to fix them in time for the demo release. They may be fixed in a later version.
-Snow textures sound like you're walking on concrete. Not really that big a deal. Besides,
most of the snow textures are supposed to be snow on concrete as it is. It'll be fixed,
though. Soon as we figure out how...
-Some computer nodes may be odd. For instance, the security computer in the Moscow bridge
map uses the Everette node. This is simply because we have yet to create fitting nodes for
whatever computer.
-The Moscow bridge map WILL run slow, only in certain areas, on a lot of computers. This
sounds bigger than it really is, trust me. There are only a few very specific positions
that you have to be in for it to slow down. Slowdown problems, nonetheless, will be worked
on for further releases of Counterfeit.
-Datalinks will be labelled incorrectly. Datalinks from Peter Fletcher will be labelled as
"Gunther Hermann", datalinks from Kate Jennings will be labelled as "Gary Savage", and
datalinks from Arthur Dvortsen will be labelled as "Jaime Reyes". This is due to the method
we're currently using to impliment custom infoportraits. This is another problem that will
be changed and fixed at a later date.
-Awkward installation. No mod loader support yet.
That's it, I think. If you find another bug worth mentioning that I'm not aware of, mail me at ghandaiah@planetdeusex.com - Thanks in advance.
